An aromatic white wine from Hawke’s Bay. The colour of pale gold in the glass. The perfume shows apricot, peach, citrus, honey, almond and baking spice. The palate is full-bodied and generous – concentrated and ripe. The varietal is low in acid, but in the right hands, shows an unctuous texture (as it does here). Layers of detail include some toast and warmth from the oak, a note of spiced butterscotch and a candied fruit peel flavour. Never cloying, there is still an energy and balance though the palate, into a mellow, lengthy finish. 94pts
