Rippon Tinker’s Field Pinot Noir 2017

Rippon Tinker’s Field Pinot Noir 2017

A Pinot Noir from Wanaka – some of the oldest vines in Central Otago. An opaque burgundy in the glass. Perfumed with plum, woody herbs, red cherry, lilac florals and a zesty crunch of blood orange and blueberry. Vividly fresh and energy-filled, there’s both tightness and concentration to what is only a medium-bodied core. The balance of tannin that is fine, sinewy and ripe, well-judged oak, and bright acidity giving great line through the palate, is effective and elegant. Savoury elements of forest floor, white pepper and black olive slowly seep in, with more toasted spice also developing. The finish is dry and has excellent persistence. 95pts
