From their Lowburn vineyard in Central Otago. A dense burgundy colour with a little bronze to the edges. An abundance of scents of raspberry, cassis, thyme, strawberry, pepper, sweet cherry coulis and toffee rise from the glass. There is plenty of oak spice and robust tannin here, forming a spine and framing the lush fruit flavours. Acidity is zesty, adding to the power-packed palate that takes no prisoners. Bold, complex and with a youthful confidence. Some savoury notes of nori, tar and tapenade sidle into view as you go, before a lengthy, dry finish. 94pts
