A quite specific style of wine – I suspect this will be an ‘either love it or hate it’ bottle. Not something you’d find in your Grandad’s cellar – is in an un-apologetically ‘natural’ style. It is designed to be chiiled, and I found it much more enjoyable served from the fridge (than not). On the nose there is redcurrant, cherry, allspice cranberry, matcha, tamarillo, chilli pepper, hibiscus and mocha, but it bursts into life on the palate. Spritzed with volatile acidity (be warned) it has an attack of tangy red fruit – unadorned and primary. As you get further in, it becomes more complex and softens, with layers of leather, moss, red liquorice and some fine tannins to go with that acidity. Brimming with character and will be interesting to see the different reactions from those trying it. 93pts
