A wine made by Daniel Brennan in Hawke’s Bay – winner of a Gold Medal at the NZIWS in 2023. An opaque purple, with magenta at the edges. Deeply aromatic – a flush of black cherry, damson, bramble, spice and floarl aromas come tumbling from the glass. As well as that lush, fleshy fruit, there is a solid framework of crisp acidity and plentiful, but supple, tannin. A confident and attention-grabbing wine that has a lot going on, but retains balance and drive through the complexities of the palate. It has enough definition of the variety to please, and should age very well. Finishes smooth and with good length. 92pts
