From one of the oldest vineyards in Tasmania, overlooking historic Marion Bay. A deep ruby-burgundy colour in the glass. Bold and smoky aromas of blackberry, cherry and elderberry, with black olives, dutch liquorice and thyme. A solid concentration to the palate – the spine of tannins and oak are supple and fine. The acidity is still crisp, and helps the succulent ripeness keep moving along. The texture is also quite glossy, but stays the finish stays on the right side of sweet. At its best now, after a dozen years in the bottle, I’d say, and good drinking. 92pts
