An aromatic white, from the Steingrubler appellation in the picturesque village of Wettolsheim in Alsace – one of the most southerly of the 51 Grand Cru sites in the Vosges Mountains. Varietally pure on the nose, with a bouquet of mandarin, rose petal, lychee, white pepper, green apple and lime zest. Off-dry, with a musky, soft fruit sweetness. Well concentrated and intense in the palate where a richness of ripe fruit is bobbing along on the moderate acidity. Some crushed-shell minerality adds complexity and focus. Approachable and juicy now, it is just starting a journey into secondary flavours of hay, beeswax and creme brulée, plus that lushness of texture. The finish is already lingering and full. 94pts
