Named as a tribute to new grandson of owner Rosie Dunphy; this limited edition Pinot Noir was a pick from the seven best barrels of the 2019 vintage from their vineyard in Gibbston, Central Otago. An inkily dark purple in the glass. Perfumed with red cherry, orange peel, blackberry, cassis, cardamom and strawberry. Brimming with tight, youthful energy – the wine needs decanting at this stage to help bring out the complex layers of flavours. Savoury notes of mushroom, nori and black olive slowly emerge, with a smoky, spicy edge underneath. Supple tannin and juicy acidity form the core, around which the other components revolve – just give it time in your cellar to line up. 93pts
