A Martinborough wine, from Alex and Leah’s organic 2-hectare vineyard. A green-gold in the glass – more colour than your average NZ Sauvignon blanc. Also different on the nose – there’s still a whack of gooseberry, but riper fruit tones of rockmelon, peach, golden kiwifruit and blood orange are key. A richness to the palate, with a weight and concentration leaning on spicy. White pepper, tarragon and chamomile creep in, and there’s a slight caramel note that hints at some oak in the fermentation. Super acidity, juicy and fresh, giving a clear linear path to the finish, which is dry and mouth-watering. 91pts
