A wine from the Appleby Vineyard on the Waimea Plains, Nelson. A bright lemon-gold in the glass, with a warm, aromatic blast of peach, apricot, hay, lemon blossom, acaia, honey and dried pineapple on nose – airy and lifted. Dry, tight and spicy into the palate, led by a prickle of phenolic white pepper over green herbal, juniper and capsicum notes. A zesty acidity that highlights some grapefruit and citrus flavours more clearly, and a viscous texture that is waxy, almost oily. Pithy finish, not long, but quite vibrant and more-ish. 91pts
