From the home vineyard on Banks Peninsula – I wrote about the label back in September 2020 – https://winefolio.co.nz/?p=2056 – a Pinot Noir of just 630 bottles. A purple-tinged ruby colour in the glass. Elegant and sweetly aromatic, with raspberry, red cherry, plum, blackberry, vanilla, sage and cinnamon on the nose. Medium-bodied and quite fleshy, the fruit quite forward and juicy on the palate. The vanilla persists, and more spice and herbal seasoning floods in, on a wave of lush, bright acidity. A subtle savoury layer emerges deeper in, with some umami and crushed herb, plus a sweetening note of liquorice. Finished spicy and plush. 92pts
