A wine from the Wairarapa region, from a label best known for their excellent Pinot Noir, but who do make a super range of both white and red (and rosé) wines. A pale lemon-green in the glass, with an expressive nose filled with fresh green flavours of pea pod, lime, jalapeno, fennel, herbs and grapefruit. Very fresh and flinty – a delicious oyster-shell minerality into the palate where there is a brisk bite of acidity but also a softer edge of pineapple, nougat and dried apple. Well balanced, and a more elegant, polished expression of Sauvignon Blanc than many on the shelves. Some depth and clarity to the palate – tightly coiled and concentrated. The lingering finish is bone dry, with a nibble of white pepper and astringency that is very more-ish. 93pts
