From one of the great Alsace vineyards, and with over ten years bottle ageing. A pale lemon straw colour in the glass, with red apple, lemon blossom, grapefruit, mandarin, white cherry and a hint of honey on the nose. A bright acidity meets the fruit sweetness into the palate but this is quite dry. Zesty, with a saline prickle and quartzy minerality. A richness and weight to the body, with lovely layers of complex flavours. Dried papaya, lime curd, hay, and a little caramel note slides in underneath the play between acid and fruit. A piquant intensity at the back of the palate, ending in a lengthy, crisp finish. Great vineyard, producer – great wine. 96pts
