A deep ruby, garnet in the glass, with bold aromatics to match the colour. Raspberry, espresso, redcurrant, fig, roasted plum, morello cherry, tobacco and rose petal on the nose. Firm tannins and a balanced acidity on the palate, with nicely developed savoury character coming through – mushroom, chorizo, tobacco and soy. Some good oak sits in the background. Rich, smooth and with a little alcoholic heat. The finish is spiced and drying, with good length. 90pts
