From the best known of Marlborough’s iconic vineyards – a single vineyard Chardonnay. A light straw-gold colour, with light greening to the edges. Ripe lemon and grapefruit aromas, with cashew, peach melba and an almond biscuit on the nose. A solid backbone formed of quite toasty oak and a sprightly acid line sit underneath the palate that is tight, focussed and powerful. The fruit is great – concentrated, juicy and lush. More to give and unwind in this wine – the textural and mineral elements are still evolving and I think the elements have a few years more to mingle and come together yet…when this will be quite hedonistic and complete. For now it is drinking pretty well and already has a satisfying, long finish. 95pts
