Brodie Estate Pinot Noir 2011

Brodie estate 2011

A Martinborough wine – sampled during recent visits to the wonderful wine town. A deep ruby colour in the glass, tinged with brick brown at the edges, showing some bottle age after ten years. A delightful floral and bramble-fruited nose, supported with black cherry, vanilla and blueberry. The palate follows the nose – again showing cherry, and now a definite savoury edge in a fine balance. Peaty earth and mushroom flavours sit with tapenade, charred oak and roasted spices. Acidity is muted now, but the tannins are still forming a solid backbone, and the wine is a deliciously harmonic glassful. The finish is moderate, with a sweet lilt to the end. 90pts.
