From syrah grapes, in the Motea Pa appellation of Hawke’s Bay. A refined, pale salmon pink colour in the glass, with aromatics and floral notes coming brightly to the fore on the nose. Perfumed with raspberry, rosehip, apple mint, cranberry, ginger, red cherry and jasmine florals. Bone dry, vibrant and delicately balanced into the palate with a crunch of nashi pear, watermelon and elderberry. Savoury layers of fennel bulb, roasted beet, pea pod and cucumber add interest, along with some oyster shell minerality. Complex, coltish and full of character – an elegant style that rewards a little time to savour and consider. 92pts.
