From Pinot Gris grapes grown in the Wairau Valley of Marlborough, with a little Malbec blended in for colour. A light salmon pink – onion skin colour in the glass. Refined and elegant on the nose – aromas of raspberry, chamomile, rosehip, red apple, lemon balm and elderflower florals. Dry with just a hint of residual sugar sweetness that balances a medium acidity and some ripe fruit. Redcurrant, apricot, pear, cinnamon and star anise cut a swathe through the mid-palate. Drunk over Christmas break, it is a wine for the summer and festive table – echoing many of the flavours in the food. 89pts.
