From Marlborough – a new label to me – by Matthew Goode (see our Q&A – www.winefolio.co.nz/?p=4631), comes this 2021 Riesling. A pale straw in the glass, with a lively nose filled with aromas of lemongrass, grapefruit, candied pineapple, ginger and elderflower florals. Well balanced between a residual sweetness and a bright acidity, giving plenty of mouthwatering flow through the palate. More citrus, with mandarin and lime zest, before a left turn into nutmeg and dried ginger baking spices. A relatively straightforward expression, but with its own little twists along the way. 90pts.
