Voluptuous, bold perfumes of yellow fleshed peach, mandarin peel, red apple, roasted chestnut, melon and spring blossom. A slatey note of salinity and minerality underlies this ripe, tropical fruit basket. A note of charred, grilled fruit also – like grilled peach and pineapple. Dry with a little grapefruit pithyness and savoury elements like preserved lemon and green olive. The high-toasted oak barrels play an interesting part in this wine – moving well away from a ’sweet oak’ influence. Custard-crème brulee textures lurk towards the finish and whilst full of character, there is a lovely balance and length to the finish. 96pts
