A deep magenta-infused inky-purple in the glass. Bramble, cranberry, mocha, incense, cassis, vanilla, elderberry and lots of roasted spice. Showing nice acid drive and has good complexity. Plush, concentrated and floods the palate with fleshy, dark fruit. Firm tannin with plenty of grip. Full bodied, generous, powerful and structured. Ripeness is underlined with savoury notes – star anise, all-spice, clove, tapenade and liquorice. Outstanding varietal character right through, from colour to the finish – which is robust but sweetening and long. 94pts
