From Martinborough fruit, and an instant hit in the WineFolio Top 10 Tasting of New Zealand Pinot Noir in July, coming in as the highest-rated 2020 wine, and an eye-opening result for a first-time wine – read those results here > www.winefolio.co.nz/?p=3862.
An vibrant, light ruby colour in the glass. The nose is expressive, floral, elegant. Youthful varietal aromas of dark cherry, damson plum, blueberry, mandarin peel, nutmeg and rose petal. Bright acidity gives an agile flow through to the fleshy, blue-fruited, focussed palate. Savoury notes, not just earthy and spiced, but something more bloody, with a slick of balsamic sappiness. Complex and generous with a muscular, rich finish. Great shape and length. For a young wine, this has everything going on – exhuberance, structure, balance, depth…and most importantly – delicious. 94pts. Very polished debut.
