From Marlborough pioneers on Jacksons Road in Blenheim, a golden yellow hue in the glass. Big nose of ripe peach, pear and lemon rind with roast hazelnut and butterscotch. Deeper and richer into the palate, showing more tropical flavours of melon, pineapple and nectarine. Enriched with plenty of toasty oak on show, with hints of nuts, caramel and toasted croissant. A medium acidity tries to hold its own as a creamy, buttery texture adds more roundness, but towards the finish, it slides into a lush, sweetening finale. Let’s call it ‘old school’. 88pts.
