Meaning ‘territory’ in Te Reo Maori – these wines are part of a range that Rapaura Springs have created to showcase the sub-regions of Marlborough and how the distinct terroir of each territory shines through in the wines from the grapes grown there. A fascinating set of wines, quite individual characters.
2021 Rohe Blind River Sauvignon Blanc
Presented with a youthfully potent perfume – lemongrass, lime zest, oat grass, green melon, and tomato leaf. Intense and direct with piercing acid drive. The mid palate is tight and concentrated, quite forward, with citrus and herbal notes along with hints of light fruit tannins – grapefruit, yuzu, chamomile and red apple skin. Well-balanced and focussed. This wine has one job, and delivers – delicious. A racy, mouth-watering and lingering finish. 94pts
2021 Rohe Dillons Point Sauvignon Blanc
Deliciously perfumed – white fleshed nectarine, passionfruit, fresh thai basil, acacia wood and blanched almond. Although dry, there’s a briney mineral note that sits with the zesty acidity to really drive through the palate. Ripe with juicy fruit – cassis, dried pineapple; mixed with a green-ish savoury edge of jalapeno and green olive. Precise, lingering finish. 93pts
2021 Rohe Rapaura Sauvignon Blanc
An array of tropical fruit – gooseberry and passionfruit, spiced with a zesty, grassy herbaciousness on the nose. Vibrant and energetic – a crisp palette of whitecurrant, white-fleshed peach and greengage stonefruits. The spine of brisk acidity is a nice balance to the mouthwatering fruit. Good weight and texture, with a drying, minerally finish. 93pts
