From their ‘Someone’s Darling’ 9-hectare vineyard on the Bendigo Loop Road in Bendigo, Central Otago. Mdi-depth shade of ruby in the glass. Classic Bendigo on the nose – thyme, baked earth, lilac and dark cherry. Elegant, with verve and complexity including good weight to the palate. Succulent fruit in the darker and deep red spectrum – blood orange, plum, bramble and raspberry. The fruit retains a little ‘pop’ and crunch, steering clear of any hint of over-ripeness, and the keen acidity pumps things along. Savoury nuance appears at the back of the palate – some soy, sumac and peppery spice. A sprinkling of toasty oak completes the picture. 93pts.
