From vines in the Gimblett Gravels, planted in 1992, made in very limited quantities. A bright gold in the glass, with an amazing perfume – floral, with honeysuckle, rose petal and bright fruit across the nose with lemon, lychee, satsuma and dried pineapple. A striking minerality defines the mid-palate – stony and oyster shell chalkiness with a briny saline edge. Savoury elements of fennel, bay leaf and green olive balance the medium/dry/sweetness and super-ripe slightly botrytis-affected fruit. Great acidity gives nice flow, and an edge to the otherwise lush and sumptuous wine. Texture is also a feature, with plush, honeyed creaminess. 94pts.
