A barrique-matured Noble Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon wine from North Canterbury, only made in exceptional year, like this 2017. A rich golden straw colour in the glass, with aromas of hay following through on the nose – with honeysuckle, pineapple, honeydew, apricot, peach and plump raisins. Super sweet on the front, but with enough balanced acidity to give a drive through to the concentrated palate. Bright, clean and elegant. This is a wine with real poise and intensity. Beyond the ultra ripe, sticky fruit are layers of tar, light soy, marmalade, salted caramel, aniseed and baking spices. Lush, opulent and delivering immense, intense flavour and smiles! Very long finish. 95pts.
