A new label to me – from the North Canterbury region of Waipara. Dark ruby/crimson, with blueberry, raspberry and doris plum, lavender, truffle and thyme on the nose. A savoury backbone of earthy minerality, with that forest floor/mushroom peatiness. Medium acidity sits well in an all round balanced profile. Nothing too edgy, but hangs together nicely, and has a palate weight that builds and develops in the glass. Subtle oak and lovely, firm tannin structure. Rosehip, mulberry, liquorice, red cherry in the rich, spiced finish. Nice length. 92pts.
