From Marlborough’s Awatere Valley, and the excellent 2020 vintage. Palest green-gold in the glass, with aromas that aren’t probably what you’d expect from this varietal and location. The nose is less grassy and herbal, but leads you into a scented garden of elderflower, lemongrass, almond, peach blossom, chamomile and grapefruits.
Broader and lush on the palate, with apricot, melon, peach and golden apple. Dry, serious but vivacious, and with lovely acidity that brings the wine through all that ripe fruit to a persistant, textural finish that ends crisper, packed with citrus and minerals. 92pts.
