From Estate-grown Martinborough fruit, a pale green-straw in the glass, with smoky, struck-match minerality immediate on the nose. Followed by a vibrant stonefruit waft of white peach and greengage, then roast chestnut, fresh hay and lemon blossom. Dry, clean, and approachable, with a power and concentration that gives a nice line through the palate, carried on a wave of bright acidity.
There’s a tension in the mid-palate as citrus and tropical fruits merge in between the nutty, caramel oak and settle into a generous, creamy texture. Luxurious without cloying, persistant and filled with energy. The long finish is balanced, and completes the circle between dryness and ripeness, and with a little spice at the end. 93pts.
