Hans Herzog Pinot Noir 2014

Hans Herzog Pinot Noir 2014

From their organic Marlborough estate – one of the most amazing vineyards around. Dark ruby, with effusive perfumes of red cherry, raspberry, lilac and blood orange, with smoky, savoury, mushroom characters. Medium bodied, but with deeper, brooding flavours than the colour indicates. Layers of complexity and a pulse of ripe red fruits, that is secondary to the elegant, savoury spine that defines the wine. A stony minerality, with warm, loamy, forest floor, framed with sweet oak, toasty and rich. Ripe, supple tannin rules over the moderate acidity, but balance each other nicely. The finish is deep and long, a satisfying, refined example of New Zealand Pinot made in the old world style. 93pts.
