Returning to Marlborough tonight, for a Pinot Noir – this one is a light ruby, burgundy in the glass, with floral notes of buddleia and musk rose. The palate is fresh, showing blueberry, raspberry, fig, cola with an underline of savoury, tobacco, mocha notes. A lighter body and weight, with a sleek texture and integrated, fine tannins. Balanced and with a little bottle age showing a development of earthen mossy and liquorice flavours; but ultimately missing a little character and there’s no great depth of finish. 89pts.
