A single vineyard Marlborough wine from the Meadowbank Estate in the Taylor Pass region – hand harvested Mendoza clone, whole bunch pressed with a wild fermentation in French oak.
A golden yellow in the glass, edged with a lemon- green hue. Full and open, the nose has a smoky, reductive flintiness, with grapefruit, nectarine and roast hazelnut. Full bodied, concentrated and intense on the palate – cut with a swathe of lovely acid tension. Satisfyingly deep – an array of ripe flavours of stone fruit, nougat and lemon curd sit in the core, but surrounded by layers of crème brulee texture, nutty oak influence and unfolding spice. Coming together with finesse in a long, sumptuous finish. Drinking beautifully now, but with the structure to stay a good few years. 93pts
