Rockburn Barrels Series; the name says it all really.
Our friend Malcolm Rees-Francis, winemaker at Rockburn explains:
“Every year we fill hundreds of French oak barrels with Pinot Noir, and every year I search for those individual barrels that most eloquently speak of site and season.
We present the results of that search to you here with a wine that exhibits the attributes I enjoy most about Pinot Noir; subtlety, elegance and personality. I am more excited about the 2019 than I think any vintage previously. It really just was one of those perfect storms.”
The Barrels series showcases the pinnacle of Rockburn Pinot Noir offering carrying wines that eloquently speak of their sub-region, site and season in years the temperamental Central Otago climate puts on a show. The 2019 Eight Barrels Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir is a single vineyard wine displaying the elegance, power and grace generated by their Gibbston Back Road Vineyard site. The Eleven Barrels Pinot Noir 2019 is a single vineyard wine displaying the power, generosity and intensity generated by the Parkburn Vineyard site.
