Back in classic Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay territory – bit of a sweet spot for us over here at WineFolio! Reviewed a lovely 2016 version at the end of last year, but I’ve had the 2018 twice now since then, and it deserves another mention..
A bright lemon-yellow with green tinges in the glass. An bright, fragrant nose of fresh apple, grapefruit and spring flowers.
A medium weight palate, filled to the brim with sweet, ripe fruit – peach, green melon and nashi pear – and a driving, sparky acidity. Creamy texture and a deep lushness from the barrel ferment, malo and lees stirring. With the texture comes a roast almond, baked crumble layer, and then you’re into long delicious finish.
92pts, Excellent, classic wine.
