Made by roving winemaker Ant Mackenzie from Hawke’s Bay fruit. A dark ruby with burgundy edges and a lovely savoury bouquet – mocha, blackcurrant and black pudding. Full bodied with broad tannins overlaying a ripe fruit richness. Plush characters of plum and tamarillo mingle with hints of root beer.
Soft and spicy with vanilla pod, biscotti and molasses, and a sprinkling of oak. This has a lovely balance and enough complexity to raise it above your basic winter warmer. I had it with roast chicken and sausage bake and it was an easy match – drinking the rest by the fire in a comfy chair. 89pts. Easy drinking classic Hawke’s Bay red
