2021 was a warm and dry summer which led to one of the earliest starts to harvest in Hawke’s Bay ever. Fruit is mass selection (MS clone) planted in the Joseph Soler Vineyard near Gimblett Road. The Albariño block soil profile is silt loams with ridges of free- draining gravel. The fruit was handpicked then gently whole bunch pressed with the finest juice settled prior to being transferred to a concrete ‘egg’ for fermentation and maturation. Under screwcap.
Presents as medium gold in the glass. Yellow fruit aromas with hint of lime & lemon curd. Medium palate weight with a chalky mineral mouth feel and flavours of nashi pear. 14% alcohol (although carries it well) and 3.2gL RS. Nice acidity with a finish that is surprisingly long. 93pts
