Ayrburn Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2026

A wine under the Ayrburn label – the spectacular dining precinct in Central Otago; however the wine hails from the Dillons Point sub-region of Marlborough. This is the area – located near the Marlborough coast, where the Wairau and Opaoa rivers meet – that did so well in the last WineFolio Top 10 Tasting of Sauvignon Blanc. This wine was a winner of a Silver medal at this years NZIWS in the last couple of weeks.

A pale straw-green colour in the glass. Whitecurrant, passionfruit, bay leaf, lemon peel,  pineapple and lime on the nose. The palate is plush, fruit-led and yet serious and well-constructed. A chalky minerality and a bite of acidity get the wine coursing through in a wave of energy. Clean, saline and slightly herbal, with touches of tomato leaf and jalapeño in the back of the palate. The finish is  mouth-watering and well-balanced. 90pts
