A Pinot Noir from Alexandra, Central Otago, made by winemaker Ant Moore. A medium density ruby colour in the glass, with slight opacity. The bouquet is inviting and clearly varietal. A hint of confectionery and strawberry bubblegum, then cherry, blueberry and bramble, followed by thyme, cinnamon and lilac florals. Quite fruit-forward, with echoes of the perfume, and then a layer of savoury, earthy flavours – pepper, olive and woody herbs – adds complexity and character. Tannin is fine – gentle, even, and tucked in. Acidity is bright and lively, carrying to a dry finish. 90pts
