Made by Master of Wine Sam Harrop, from a higher-altitude Hawke’s Bay vineyard. Lime peel, orange blossom and white cherry on the nose, with a hint of struck-match flinty reductiveness. An accentuated minerality to the palate; very pure and linear, yet feels low in acidity.
Lemon curd, oat biscuit, and a light butterscotch but no great creaminess to the texture – still very precise, concentrated and tight; as a gentle wave of toasty oak comes through in the lengthy finish. Quite Burgundian; and a wine to put away and wait for further developments…
