From the Onetangi Valley, on Waiheke Island this is a blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Components were fermented separately in a combination of open top tanks and stainless steel closed top tanks and were plunged or pumped over twice daily. Aged for 9 months in French oak, bottled under screwcap. 2019 on Waiheke was characterised as a warm and very dry growing season. In the glass it has a pale ruby hue with aromas of plum and cassis. The flavour profile evokes graphite blackcurrant and dried herbs with round acidity with a medium length finish. It doesn’t show it’s 14.5% ABV and, while no rush to finish any stocks, is at peak now. 90pts
