A Sauvignon Blanc made from grapes grown in two vineyards on the Waimea Plains outside Nelson, where the alluvial soils are well-suited to aromatic whites. A pale steely green colour in the glass. The bouquet has some familiar scents of passionfruit, lime, grapefruit and blackcurrant, without that gooseberry, herbaceous style of a Marlborough expression. Linear and direct, but with a well-integrated acidity, and quite rounded with a creamy lees-influenced mouthfeel to the palate. Dry and crisp, there is a very polished finesse to the back of the palate and a crisp finish with plenty of length. 91pts
