An organic, vegan friendly and single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. What sets this apart is the use of tannin extracted from green tea leaves (Camelia sinesis) in the winemaking – providing protection against oxidation and spoilage as a natural antioxidant.
A bright golden colour in the glass, tinged with green at the edges. Aromas of whitecurrant, passionfruit, mandarin and grapefruit, with more savoury notes of white pepper, green olive, fennel and bay leaf. Fresh and bright with acidity in the palate, but has an elegant layering and unfurling of flavours rather than a busy rush at the front. A seedy tannin emerges and some earthy terracotta adds depth. The fruit turns more tropical further in – pineapple and guava comes to mind. A characterful expression with reasonable length to the finish as well. 92pts
