A wine from Marlborough – and the company’s 13-hectare Corners Vineyard in the heart of the Wairau plains. A pale steely green colour in the glass. Good varietal typicity, with white pepper, baking spice and a musky incense quality on the nose. Of course, there is plenty of fruit – pineapple, nectarine, grapefruit, apple and lemon. Dry, with a broad generosity to the palate that suits the varietal and style. Texture is important, and there’s plenty that coats the mouth and wraps that spice and fruit up in a bundle. It doesn’t get away from the core fruit though, and the finish is actually quite calm, precise and long. 92pts
