From Bannockburn vineyards comes this elegant wine that is a vivid ruby with a black cherry, rosehip and violet floral fragrance. A savoury herbal layer paves the way to a full bodied and complex palate with flavours of bramble, cola, redcurrant, spices and plum pudding lingering. The rich seam of tannins match the ample width of the glossy texture. It’s generous and poised, but has a finesse and harmony rather than just upfront punch. Oak is integrated and lightly dusts a path to a long, supple and succulent finish.
A few of the Bannockburn Pinots from 2017 display, to me, everything that anyone could need from a Central Pinot Noir – the crafted blending and complexity of these wines shows why it’s become such a darling of the world stage. More like these!
