A Chardonnay from the Huia Home Block vineyard in Marlborough. A bright, light gold colour in the glass. The scent differs from a typical New Zealand Chardonnay perfume, with a very European style to it – marmite, hay, green fig, juniper and soy all evident before you get to the more traditional citrus, stone fruit, creme brulée and hazelnut notes. Dry, with a tingle of crystalline acidity in the vibrant palate. A creamy texture adds a softness, as the oak makes itself known, and a touch of tannin too. Good concentration and length makes for a pretty serious expression – look for this to age well. 94pts
