From the organic Paritua vineyard in the Bridge Pa Triangle, Hawke’s Bay. A complex aroma packed with intertwining flavours. Plum, root beer, cranberry, star anise, pepper, cherry and a floral top note of violets. The palate has just as much going on – where a savoury, funky element has a juxtaposition with that lush fruit flavour. A line of bristling acidity keeps the palate light on its feet, and a spine of chalky tannin and smoky oak adds weight and structure. Contrasts abound throughout – but where an enticing texture does well is the pull things together and harmonise, guiding to a good length on the finish. 92pts
