A white wine from the Awatere Valley – a blend of Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Riesling. A very pale lemon-green colour in the glass. Aromatic and gently spicy on the nose, with ginger, orange blossom, lychee, preserved lemon, pepper, pear and greengage flavours jostling through the bouquet. A briney acid gives a swish to the plush fruit and there is good weight through the palate. Clean, mouthwatering and fresh – taking a little personality from each varietal. A silky texture waits beyond the fruit, swaddling the dry finish. 91pts
