Brood Fermentation ‘Pollen’ 2022

A white blend of Chardonnay and Riesling from Nelson, sealed under cork and wax. A pale golden colour in the glass, with both a ‘funky’ and a ‘regular’ side to the perfume. There is a sense of skin-fermentation in the aromas, and a yeasty cider-like note – but also a ripe lemon and grapefruit zestiness. Acidity is bright, with a tang and drive through the dry palate. A texture develops nicely, with a warming spice in the wings too, so that the finish is broader and long – certainly compared to the tight, tart entry. 90pts
