A blend that originated in the vineyards of Tasmania, Tumbarumba, and the Adelaide Hills, following Penfolds art of blending from regions to achieve a coherent whole. A lighter straw and green colour in the glass. Flint and quartzy minerality are immediate on the nose, with white peach, lime and apple fruit. Cashew, preserved lemon and green olive complete the aromas. Quite elegant and seamless – you could call this a cool-climate expression easily. An oily, creamy texture, with a little tannin grip softens the palate. Toasty oak brings back a little ‘old school’ whilst overall the style is quite modern – tight and precise. It’s a very well-made blend that will have mass appeal, and should age very well too. 94pts
